After searching for this door unsuccessfully on Sunday, I returned today and realized my lack of success was due to my earlier mindset. I expected the door to be displayed vertically and overlooked this horizontal structure as I gazed across the field at a distance. There is a great lesson here about being open to all the possibilities.
The artist of this door, Dick Fowlkes, wrote on the accompanying sign: "As you may know, my paintings are all about color. At nine years old, I was diagnosed with dyslexia and I was learning in a totally different way than the “norm.” I learned by sight, smell and sound. Do not give me a book…I learned…give me a paint brush. I consider my “Dick-slexia” (as I always thought was all my own), a gift and talent. Expose the eyes to an object and let the brain lead you to create what you see, smell and feel.
