Multi-talented Chris Colfer made a stop in Richmond as part of his tour promoting the latest volume of his Middle School fantasy series, The Land of Stories. Expecting a large crowd, independent bookstore bbgb held the event in the Byrd Theatre (conveniently located across the street from the bookstore) You may recognize this author from his other career as singer-actor on American TV show Glee. I bought a copy of the latest volume for our library collection and attended the program to have the copy autographed. I had no idea that Colfer's fans feel about his stories the way JK Rowling fans feel about Harry Potter. It was 93F but the youngsters (and some of their parents!) showed up in full fairytale regalia. They lined up for a costume contest, and the winner was sketched by the illustrator of the series. Quite a prize!
