Today was a day for new students to get acquainted and returning students to reconnect. It was also the last day to tweak any changes planned for the upcoming year. We have added an additional story time for kindergarten, and because of scheduling conflicts, we are using the Library classroom for this activity rather than the Book Nook. In order for it to be welcoming and less academic, we have adjusted the lighting and added an arm chair and white wooden bookcase. We shall see if it is successful at creating the atmosphere we intend. If not, we will continue to "tweak."
Maybe a cute little throw rug under the chair for a little added "warmth"? I think it looks very cozy! I know the students will like it. Oh, and I think it needs an Allison Williams photo collage of students reading/enjoying library activities on the wall too.
@olivetreeann We have "cougar paws" that grip the carpet and indicate where each listener sits. We had our first class today and they settled in beautifully.
