Today the entire faculty had an all-day workshop with the authors of our Summer Read: “Neuroteach, Brain Science and the Future of Education.” The premise of the book is that to help students learn, you need to understand current research on the brain. Here you see teachers as students. We have created models of brain cells and now they are being connected in neural pathways. The goal is to use our understanding to develop better learning opportunities for our students. We will have two more meetings with these authors in November and February to track our progress.
@taffy More consistency in planning curriculum and understanding better what motivates learners. Our school is already very intentional in our approach to learning but this book has a good overview of the different aspects — physical, emotional, social and intellectual — of learning. It will be interesting to see what will happen in our future sessions with the authors.
