The Many Faces of Love

This beautiful piece of music was sung at worship this morning by husband and wife, Chris Nixon and Faith Alejandro. The lyrics are inspired by Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, perfect for the Sunday before Valentine’s Day. Here are the words:
DUET: “The Gift of Love”
Music – “O Waly Waly,” English folk tune Setting by Hal Hopson
Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire, But have not love,
My words are vain, as sounding brass and hopeless gain.
Though I may give all I possess,
And striving so my love profess,
But not be giv’n by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin.
Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control. Our spirits long to be made whole. Let inward love guide ev’ry deed. By this we worship and are freed. Amen.
