Have Silly Bandz come to your town? After dealing with the distraction of these silicon bracelets at school, I see they have burst forth even more exuberantly at camp. It's a harmless enough fad as long as the bracelets aren't tight enough to cut off circulation. These skinny little arms seem safe. my kids have a crap load of these things, they are very popular here and they want them in every kind they have and from all the different stores.. Its crazy. I have thought about taking a picture of theirs too because of all the bright colors I just haven't yet.. Great shot of them!!
How cute is that! Actually, I have a box of them in the drawer beside me...Heather gave them to me a couple years ago...all animal shapes... At my advanced age, I may have missed my chance to follow the trend, but if I use them, I'll certainly think of the kids!
You always have the wisest comments... I saw your note on the thread about being popular, and as soon as I started to read the second one, my thought flew right to Bernie! Isn't she just a shining example of one who "gives" in her own special, unselfish way. I think she truly appreciates the comments (and most of the time has lovely responses on her own site) but no better example could have been sited for someone who does this for her own photo journal. Just wanted you to know you're very special, too...
I was at a wake a couple of months ago and the great-grandchildren had decorated their great-grandfather's casket with these. I'm not kidding. But since the bands represent something that they care about, I thought it was a fitting tribute because their great-grandfather loved to laugh more than anyone I've ever known, and he'd probably have gotten a kick out of it!

These are hot items this year. My Grandkids have gone absolutely crazy with them. Remember a few years back the big craze was those slap bracelets? A straight piece of decorated aluminum or some metal and then when you slapped it agaisnt your wrist it wrapped around it forming a bracelet.
They are SO popular with kids here, but I don't get the fascination. I guess bright colors and the shapes before they're put on are both things kids would be fascinated with. This is a great shot, nonetheless! The colors are so vibrant!
Its obvious I have no young kids in my life, I'd never heard of them. They look like a skinny version of the big chunky coloured plastic bangles of the '80s :)
I've never seen these before looking at Chimom's shot today ... and I teach 3rd grade! Maybe they haven't come west yet and they'll be all the rage when school starts! LOL!
