Twice a week i walk a group of Lower School students across campus at dismissal. On the way, sheltered beneath a leafy tree dedicated in his name, is this memorial to a student who died 30 years ago. It happened before my association with Collegiate but I sought out a teacher who knows the Jarman family, and she told me that young Sam died in a car accident. She also said that Sam's father still volunteers to help coach the school football team. Working with young people is a living memorial to a son who never had the chance to grow up.
Here is the original essay on our school website that tells about Mr. Jarman. http://www.collegiate-va.org/podium/default.aspx?t=204&nid=54266
Nice weekend to you, Allison!
