Tons of Coins

Can you imagine this old tub filled with coins? This golden bathtub awaits Halloween Day when it will be moved from the Lower School hall across campus to the Upper School. On that day all the Lower School students parade over (the younger students arrayed in costumes) bringing with them the coins they have been collecting all month. The entire school unites to pool their coins to fund scholarships to Collegiate. Last year students collected over $11,000 in coins. The drive, sponsored by Interact service club, has been in place since the early 90's and each year the amount collected sets new records.
:) That's cool

what a cool idea. Love those old tubs. What qualifications are needed to win a scholarship?

Wow- I can't imagine counting them all! But what a fun way to raise money! It's so unique who wouldn't want to contribute!?

What an awesome idea, and that will help to generate and instill into the minds of the young people their ability to help others in the future

Hmm Allison, difficult to comment for somebody from the UK ......... in the UK, state schools are free for children up to the age of 18 and then further education (18+ at uni' and further education colleges is paid for by students taking loans from from the government)...anyway i digress, i am sure everyone is proud of the 'ton of coins'...your picture tells a story of many words :)

Keep up the good work with your posts :)

@phil_howcroft We have both public, parochial (religious-based) and "independent" schools. Some towns and states have wonderful public schools and not much of a tradition of private education. My school is almost 100 years old and has a very strong alumni base that guarantees it will continue to be supported despite economic ups and downs.
