In traditional West African folklore, Anansi the Spider is the keeper of all stories. He is often described as a prankster, using his wits to outsmart the gullible and the powerful. His tales are told for both entertainment and as moral lessons. Through time Anansi stories spread to Jamaica where their popularity continued to grow. They can also be found in the America South where they often include the rascal Brer Rabbit.
