The Newest Addition

This is my new Lytro camera. It is a light field camera which means it captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space. That sounds very sci fi, but the advantage of a light field camera is that you focus the image while it is in the camera or after it is transferred to your desktop. The next few days, I will share a few images I have taken with this camera and give you my impressions both positive and negative.

Hi, Allison! It's been almost 2 years. Do you still use/like your Lytro? Have you seen the new Lytro Illum? What do you think?

@juliedduncan I must confess the Lytro never lived up to its press releases. It is not intuitive. The focus corrections must be done through their website and it just didn't do for me what a standard P&S camera of the same price can do, especially lack of a true zoom. The new Lytro is very expensive so I won't be trying that!

@allie912 Thanks for your insights, Allison. It sounds like the coolest thing in theory, but in practical terms maybe needs some more R & D. :)
