Cookies for a Cause

Last Sunday I shared the story of the cupcakes my young friend Gillian was selling to raise money for the Central Virginia Food Bank. Today throughout the section of Richmond called Carytown teams of kids were selling cookies to raise money for cancer research, In talking to the mother of these youngsters, it seems every family has been touched in some way by the tragedy of childhood cancer. Anyone who says today's young people are lazy and self-absorbed, hasn't spent time with real boys and girls.
Well captured

Great kids- I hope their efforts were well rewarded. The attitude of children depends largely on the parents. I've seen both- parents who seem to feed the self absorption and parents who encourage their children to make a difference. Thankfully I see a swing in the latter direction more often now. Glad to hear (and see!) that you're noticing it too.

Such a great thing to do! I watched the "Stand Up to Cancer" show last night - it was so moving. They had a special feature about a little girl in the Boston area with a very rare type of cancer. She was supposed to be on the show last night, but her condition is deteriorating quickly, and she was not able to be there. The doctors have said that don't expect that she has much longer to live - 6 years old! :(
