Richmond is just too far north for a flamingo, but he seems to be stuck on the roof of the Reed-Gumenick Library in the Middle School until someone takes pity on him. I saw him this morning on a walk across campus. I didn't have my camera at the time, so I returned in the afternoon to get my shot. Then I popped into the library to find out who hoisted him up on the roof. The librarians looked at each other and collectively shrugged their shoulders. They really couldn't say, they told me, It's been up there for 6 or 7 years. I couldn't believe it! I don't walk by often but you would think in 7 years I would have looked up at least once and spied him. As some old Bible scholar said on more than one occasion, “There are none so blind as those that will not see.” and I seem to be suffering from poor vision right now.
Oh no Allison- it is not that at all. This is just a perfect illustration as to how 365 gets us looking in all directions and improves how we see the everyday things in our lives! (Well, there might be a tiny bit of "how could you miss that?" somewhere in this story but let's put a positive spin on it instead!) Great capture! If he ever feels like moving even further north, I have a couple in my front yard that would be glad to meet him!
