I came upon this pup being trained by his owner. Have you ever seen a more pitiful soul? His dramatic pose got results. The owner gave in and removed the strap, at which time he joyously bounded over to me, making further picture-taking impossible.

I think it's called a gentle lead. Most who use them say they work quite well. I could never get myself to use them on our boys.
