Cutting Edge Scavenger Hunt by allie912

Cutting Edge Scavenger Hunt

This week I am implementing a scavenger hunt through the library for my Fourth Grade classes. In past years the students have used paper and pencils to follow the clues. This year I created rhyming riddles using a website that produced QR codes which I then printed and placed around the library to direct teams to the next clue. Each team used an iPad with a QR code reader to scan and reveal the clue. As they worked their way throughout the library, each team marked a map with numbers 1-12 corresponding to the 12 answers. The energy level was high (along with the noise!) and each team was able to figure out the riddles and complete the hunt. In the collage you can see the team that came in First while below are other groups working just as hard.

The younger generation has left me in the dust, technologically speaking! I'm gathering that QR is the little "square"? ...no cell phone...no ipad... but cheering on the kids who will run the world someday!

@Weezilou I like your attitude! Yes the QR code is that funny like square you see in magazines and newspapers.

Now that is what I call fun, but a question. There used to be a rule, QUIET in the library. With all that fun, how do you accomplish that, or is that a thing of the past?

@digitalrn quiet libraries don't seem to work in a K-4 school!

Sounds like a fun game and a great way to get students used to finding things in the library. I think I would have enjoyed setting up that game and then watching them figure out the clues.
