Charting Friendship

I had such fun with a kindergarten class on Tuesday as we studied the stories of children's book author Todd Parr and then, inspired by Parr's pattern books, created our own Venn diagrams. The children worked in pairs comparing their appearance, their favorite activities, their families and anything else that popped into their minds. They charted their differences and similarities on a Venn diagram, using pictures and words. If you are a little rusty on the concept of a Venn Diagram, here is a link to bring it to mind: http://tinyurl.com/ny7f64g
The classroom teacher and I were delighted with their work -- both their understanding of the concept and the comparisons they drew.

I think it is so important for children to learn how to work together at that young age

What a marvelous interaction! It must be a delight to watch it evolve!
