Waiting for the Riders by allie912

Waiting for the Riders

The size of the crowd was nothing compared to those attending the Easter Parade on the same stretch of Monument Avenue, but it was a beautiful day to hang out, relax between laps then leap up and cheer for the riders. Every 15 minutes the main body of riders flew past, followed by the stragglers pumping furiously. The women's races took place in the morning, and the men's event began at 1 PM.
Great b&w

I'm glad they were there in a supportive role! Had I been in the midst, I'd have taken photos of some of those lovely buildings behind them between laps!

@Weezilou being local, I already have many, many pictures of the wonderful homes on Monumant Avenue!

@Weezilou Oh, I didn't actually mean "you"...I KNOW you've got all the pictures! I meant, literally, "ME"...I'd have wanted to go home with those photos! (Good ol' English language in our midst again!)

@Weezilou You are certainly right about it being photogenic. Monument Avenue was named one of the 10 great streets in the country by the American Planning Association.

The black and white seems to emphasize how nice the day was as the sunlight filters through the trees. Nice candid!

A great street shot. Even in black and white one can see that you had a beautiful day.
