Preserving the Past

This morning at school I received a brown envelope heavily taped and addressed to "Librarian". Inside was a most amazing item. You can see for yourself, there is a diploma from Collegiate awarded to a student in the class of 1927. The owner included a note expressing her hope that Collegiate would find a place for this relic. She jotted on the bottom of the note, in firm clear handwriting, that she is 104 years old. We immediately went to our collection of school yearbooks and found the graduate herself in the Class of 1927. When I contacted the Alumnae office, the director told me this generous lady is the oldest living alum of the school. How nice that she still feels a connection to Collegiate after so many years. And in this centennial year, we are especially appreciative of these ties.
Fantastic! Wouldn't you love to meet her? :)
