Oh my, and I have no idea how she could possibly do anything without taking out an eye or something with those. They do look quite colorful and artsy

Like you, I might also have asked to photograph her hands as the art work is well executed and i'm sue she's quite pleased with them. Now the flip side... From a practical standpoint, I totally do not "get it"! Get some nice art paper and paints and create something to hang on the wall...
