I walked behind this young lady and her two dogs for a block while on my morning walk. I didn't immediately realize that her companion on the left had only three legs. At some point I noticed that there was a slight hitch in his stride, but he really did a remarkable job keeping up with his companions.
Aren't animals resilient?! I have a good friend whose cat had to have a leg removed. He said the first couple weeks were difficult, but he and his wife soon realized it was more difficult to" watch" the cat than "for" the cat. Now, a few months later, he said that cat is their constant companion and there's nothing she won't try to do. How wonderful...and the amputation probably saved her life!
