The city utility department has been busy on our block, and I am beginning to understand what they are doing. The utility pole on the left is showing signs of age so it's time for a replacement. By digging a hole for the new one right next to the old, the switching of the wires should be easy, and our service should not even be interrupted. Theoretically.
