What's Going On Here?

At first glance you might think someone was mixing up a batch of granola. When I came upon these dishes on a bench outside the library, there were no chefs in sight. Fortunately I had gotten a heads-up from science teacher Ellen. Rather than baking up something tasty, our Second Graders were in the midst of studying different kinds of soil. So much more interesting -- and memorable -- than reading about it in a text book. (Although now I have a hankering for granola!)
Hands on is a much better and a fun way of education.
