A specialty grocery store in our neighborhood called The Fresh Market has an offer for people who like to cook, but don't like to shop. Each week they put together ingredients for a tasty dinner menu at a great price. I tried it for the first time this evening, and John and I both gave it 4 stars. On the store website was a recipe for Balsamic Tomato Jam which I added as a topping for the meatloaf. It was a tasty addition. I served vanilla gelato with the red velvet pound cake. We have enough of everything for another meal. One change I will make, however. I think I will replace the risotto with roast baby redskin potatoes for added texture. There was a fair amount of time spent in the kitchen and 3 pans to clean up, but it was worth it to have a change of pace in the flavor department.
@allie912 They really have a great idea there- I think people will respond to knowing it's absolutely fresh since everything is coming from the local business person instead of being shipped from who knows where.
Were you at our lunch table yesterday when we were discussing this, Allison? I don't think you were, so kind of funny to see you posting this today. When I was visiting my son in NC last month, one evening, my d-i-l purchased one of these meals at their local store...not sure if it was Fresh Market or another similar store...but, regardless...same deal, and it was sooo good! And so much food for the money!
@hwy61 That's where I got the idea. Bev Campbell was talking about the stir fry dinner she bought. By the time I checked it out, it was a new menu, but the price was even lower and John is a sucker for meatloaf.
