For several weeks we have been unable to use the Fellowship Hall at church as we waited for a replacement for the now-defunct boiler. The new boiler has arrived, although it has not yet been hooked up. We thought it warranted a trip to the basement to see it. One of the other Sunday School teachers accompanied us and gave us a little talk on how a boiler provides heat. I subsequently researched and learned the difference between a boiler and furnace. Boilers and furnaces are often confused, but the terms are far from interchangeable. Both are systems that heat your home, but the similarities end there. Boilers heat water, providing either steam or hot water as a method of heat; furnaces heat the air. It was interesting to note that this new boiler is much smaller than the old (although not necessarily cheaper!)
We did manage to fit in the Sunday School lesson on the Transfiguration so I would say it was a productive morning.
