The marabou is unmistakable due to its size, bare head and neck, black back, and white underparts. It has a huge bill, a pink gular sac at its throat (crumenifer(us) means "carrier of a pouch for money"), a neck ruff, and black legs and wings. It’s wing span rivals the Andean condor.
It is nicknamed The Undertaker Bird because its markings and posture resemble a man in a black frock coat.
They are native to SubSaharan Africa, in both wet and dry areas and are scavenger birds, often choosing to live near human habitation.
This day I managed to get a shot of several showing off that dramatic wingspan.
