Today’s Special: Frozen Mealworms

In icy Richmond, these two Carolina wrens worked hard to excavate some mealworms, and then look who shows up to reap the benefits! Meanwhile I watched a red-bellied woodpecker try to dig down on the seed cylinder but it was apparently too frozen for even his beak. He gave up and flew off and no one else has taken up the challenge.
Nice photos, though frozen meal worms don't sound too good! I feel sorry for the birds and all wildlife when the weather changes too quickly.
