I’ve been watching David Attenborough’s series The Green Planet and learning a lot about plant life. A study of giant lily pads on the Amazon clearly demonstrates that plants are just as determined to achieve domination in their world as any big cat or pack of wild dogs in theirs.
The lily will grow and expand its reach to cover a body of water and block the sun from other water plants. Through time lapse photography the viewer can also see tendrils of the lily sweeping the surface of the water and ravaging competing plants. It is definitely a plant-eat-plant world out there!
