The Shire Horse is a noble animal and I love to see them. In the grounds of Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire they have a number of these powerful beasts; they also show them on a regular basis winning prizes. I remember seeing Shires when I was a youngster pulling carts loaded with beer barrels from the Watneys' Brewery in Mortlake not far from whereI was brought up.
