Kali challenged me this week to make a photo that is inspired by a favourite piece of music or poem, as both these inspire me in many different ways it was both a lovely challenge and a difficult one as I have so many "favourite" poems and pieces of classical music. So I thought to combine Kali's challenge with my new Still Life project and this is the result.
The music I eventually chose was The Kaddish by Maurice Ravel, you can listen to it here

The poetry I have chosen is The Call by George Herbert:
"Come, my Way, my Truth, my Life;
Such a Way as gives us breath,
Such a Truth as ends all strife,
Such a Life as killeth death.
Come, my Light, my Feast, my Strength;
Such a Light as shows a Feast,
Such a Feast as mends in length,
Such a Strength as makes his guest.
Come, my Joy, my Love, my Heart;
Such a Joy as none can move,
Such a Love as none can part,
Such a Heart as joys in love."
The photograph is of a stone carving of Jesus which I got many years ago from the Cistercian Monastery Mount St. Bernard's Abbey,

This has turned out to be a deeply personal challenge in which photography, poetry and classical music combine to inform my Benedictine spirituality.
