So far I've had a pretty lousy day. Something I was eagerly anticipating, didn't work out as I had expected. I took a bunch of photos today experimenting with different settings and they all turned out horribly, like I had had one too many drinks before shooting. I still have much to learn which bothers me because I like to know what I am doing and do things well. Feeling discouraged, bored with my location, and all around over it.
It was pouring when I woke up. The rain let up but it was gray for much of the morning but finally the sun broke through.
At least it is the weekend almost here. Here's to brighter days ahead...
By the way, these are windows from a historic mansion near my kids' school. I liked the color, but I went with b&w and a horror movie title to match my sour mood.
Oh, Amanda. We all have those 'I wish I could go somewhere else to take pictures' days (none more so than me) And we all suffer from not knowing enough. Every time I solve one problem I encounter two more - I think photography is like that. Keep your head up - your pictures are great.
I know how you feel girl. This week has been a downer for me. Tired of my location too..wanna move far away together?? haha. Sending positive thoughts. I think I heard a quote somewhere that says "when you stop learning, that's when you stop living" There will always be that one more thing, one more idea you can learn and improve on. Don't take it as a discouraging road block. Try to view it as a small goal to drive you further. It'll be okay. Some days we hate photography, some days we love every shot. That's just part of it :)))
I love this shot - love the way the bricks look and love the reflection in the windows!
And I so know what you mean. Feeling that way too. I want to kick my shot today. It's fine, but I just didn't have/take the time to get it right and it's frustrating! I wish I could take epic shots everyday, but am trying to embrace even the less than stellar ones because they're always ones I can go back and redo someday when I'm more knowledgable and maybe can get away alone.
Oh dear. Your commentary sounds just like me every day atm but as you say the days are getting longer and the light is becoming more bearable. I like the tree reflections in the windows xx
There were time when I tought that I had the prefect shot and than downloaded it did not came out how I pictre it in my mind.
This project is just about having fun, learning, taking inspiration from others and having a go.
I like this shot and your title
Amanda, I completely get it. I am only just starting out but I am already feeling that I have nothing as interesting in my little world as everyone else seems have in theirs! You are such a talented photographer. Today you may not have "felt" it, but the day and that feeling will pass. Tomorrow will be brighter. You're next fab shot is just around the corner! By the way, I think this is a lovely photo. I like your POV and the B&W.
this too shall pass, m'dear! the difficult part about 365 is thinking you have to capture a perfect image every stinkin' day... but you also want to push yourself to grow - and that means experimenting and taking oodles of lame shots... just remind yourself that you NEED to take those lamo shots so you can figure out what you need to do to take a stellar shot... and i like your window eyes... the reflection of the trees in the windows nicely accentuates the eeriness of the title :)
Very cool. Love the composition and reflections. Nice processing too. I understand the day too...it happens, and I agree with @northy, That 'perfect image every day' can get stressful.
Nice reflections ... I think there's a lot of it about at the moment, hardly the best time of year for photography in the Northern hemisphere after all, unless you're out in the snowy wilderness.
@tbats22 Yes, let's move:). The awful thing is that we just moved here less than a year ago. I think that part of my problem is that I am home full time. I am not out commuting and seeing interesting things in town or at the office. I am not it a city. No beach in sight. And then trying to get shots at home isn't working. My next day was better, though. Thanks for the encouragement. Hope that tomorrow starts a great new week for us:)!
@maggiemae Thanks, lady. Glad that I went with it then:).
@emrob The weekend was good. Thanks so much, Mandy! Trying to let it go more and not let photos and this project get to me as much. This should be fun! Ya know:)...
@psychographer Thanks, lady! Appreciate your comments and that you could relate at times!
@mgozzard You are right, lady. Thanks for that encouragement!
@tonydebont It's a lot to learn, huh? I really need to take a class or sit down for a couple hours with my cousin who sold it to me. I could pay him to show me how to do everything. Thanks, Tony!
@kwind Thanks Miss Kim. The weekend was much better. It seems like I was PMSing or something how awful I was feeling. Sheesh!
@pflaume You are very sweet. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement, Lisa!!
@copperheadglass Truly. Thanks for your words of encouragement, lady!!
@northy Man, I hate the oodles of lame shots part, but I know what you are saying. Thanks so much for your encouragement on the matter. I need to take it less seriously and have more fun with it. Thanks, Northy!!
@kbalychev Thanks so much, lady. The weekend was MUCH better.
@swguevin Thanks so much, lady. I just need to get out of the house more, I think. It's tough being home full time for photo ops. I envy people with a commute and who work in interesting locations/settings.
@alisonp Thanks so much for relating and for your kind comments, lady!
@edie Trying to let it go and have more fun with it. Thanks for the encouragement and comments, my friend!
@sadiec Aw, it's a cool concept. I am in love with reflections:)! Thanks for your inspiring shot this week!
@automaticslim True dat. It was so pretty here for a bit when we had snow on the ground, but alas, it's gone. The next day was better. And I need to stop beating myself up when it is a stinky day and just have fun with it. Thanks, Andy!
@darsphotos Thanks so much, my friend. The weekend was much better!!
@fueast I should have and gotten over it. I usually do. It was awful that I seemed to take tons of duds. Thanks, lady! Feeling better after the weekend. I had a big photo outing, but more importantly, I just had a fun time out with my mom:).

@hopelessromantic Thanks for the encouragement, Peter. I am trying to not let things get to me as much and have more fun with it.
