The Flying Pig Marathon was here in Cincinnati yesterday. 9 years ago, I ran it with my husband. He was the photographer of the family back then and it killed me that he brought a camera along (a disposable) to snap shots along the way. I wanted to do well. I wanted to win the thing;-). I did NOT want to stop for photos. Funny how things change over the years.
No marathons for me since, but I tried a few more times only to finally be diagnosed with arthritis in my knees. I still do run, only much shorter distances. A 5K is my typical length now.
I miss being so hardcore and able to run marathon distances. But happy to have completed one and have a few photos of myself (thanks to Michael) and a medal to prove it.
Nice dash of bright pink and i like the reflections so much Amanda, i wonder what a crop just on top of the stones, to show only the reflection would. Look like? Jus a thought. Lovely tones from the sky too.
So pretty! I really love the reflections in this and the beautiful pinkish-orange color. I love how you composed this, with the runner and how bright her clothes are. I think between the two, I prefer this one, the original. Fave.
this is beautiful with the pop of pink and the lovely reflections! i am considering moving to Cincinnati/Kentucky area this summer since my hubby has a job there now. How do you like it?
@megmills Meg, we moved a year ago and we LOVE it!! We moved from CA and FL before living here (so we lived in nice places before). Where are you coming from? I'd say stay in OH rather than KY if you can. You can email me at theohlomonacos@gmail.com if you want to chat more. We are in the Maineville/Mason area by Kings Island.
@amandal Oh good...thank you...I will email you when I get home. I'm in Phoenix, Arizona now...oh a 3 hour time difference, too. So it'll be tonight your time. :)
Awesome reflection, lighting and composition. I admire you for the strength you have, most people would of given up all together but you keep going even if it means doing less of what you love....you rock Amanda =)
@amandal I'm just pretending to be right now. lol. Doing that C25K app on my phone and am up to Week 6, I think? So I'm wanting to build up to it and become one, but am taking it slow. Right now, it just feels great to be healthy, you know? Husband and I are doing a working out/eating right regime together.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comments, suggestions and support. You all are wonderful. And no, the runner here is not me this time. I was out walking with my family and shooting that night. Last night I walked the dog again and was so annoyed to have left my camera home. The reflections in the lake were amazing for the reflection setting challenge. Shoot! Maybe tonight?!
Amazing reflection and I love the feel of this capture. It makes me miss my 'alone time' and running. I haven't had a lot of either in recent years. Really lovely shot. (I was diagnosed with arthritis in my right hip this year! That and the shingles made me feel about 100)
@edie What is with arthritis in young people?! Sheesh. Hope that you can get in some alone time soon. Wanna meet up in NYC next month? June 22 is one that Michael Elliot is hosting.
