The other day when it started raining at the zoo, the animals hid away and the people ran for cover. Me, I put up my umbrella and took advantage of the water on the flowers. I was particularly fond of this shot because of it's color and composition.
One helpful lesson that I've learned from my photo club is how to change the focal point on my camera. So, so glad to know that now and to be learning new tricks!
In exciting news, I am going to the 365 Meet Up in NYC this summer. I've been drooling over city, and especially NYC photos since starting this project and now get to experience shooting there myself. Stoked!!
Beautiful! Love the color and composition! What setting does change the focal point?? I have meant to figure this out for awhile. So exciting about the NYC trip!
@pflaume Aw, thanks, lady. On the back of your camera is a square that shows a bunch of points. Just arrow over to it and select the focus point. I shoot in A mode. Let me know if you get it.
Lovely shot!!! Beautiful!! Good girl to not run for cover during a shower!! Great sharing of info. How exciting to be headed to NYC for any reason...but for a 365 meet up. How cool is that!!!!
Wow! How simple is that! I think it worked. When I am looking through the viewfinder and use the arrow to move, the red box jumped to a new point. So that is my new focal point? Thank you so much for sharing this!! I have had a number of photos not work out because I didn't know how to do this!
@skpinny Aw, thanks, lady. You should. It has been really helpful to me so far. I've been overwhelmed and feeling idiotic at times, but it is forcing me to figure stuff out. I like that! Today I saw some plants in the woods lit up and it reminded me of your recent shot. I thought of you!
@eyesmile I am so incredibly excited. It's been so long since I've gotten away without the kids. Thanks so much for your sweet comments, Gena!!
@katiebrenkert We have GOT to get together before then. We are due. Where do you want to meet up this time? How are your upcoming weekends looking? And thanks!
@abhijit One day I will get a macro lens. Glad that this one showed decent detail, though. Thanks, Abhijit. I wish my focus had been on the yellow rather than the red perhaps.
@anazad511 I am so excited to go. I don't get out much without the kids. We pretty much only travel to Florida so I am thrilled to go someplace different and kid free (for me) and with other photographers to show me around. Thanks for your kind comments, my friend!
@barbsmith Thanks, Barb...so happy to know how to focus better now!
its a beautiful picture, and im so exited for you! Its so awesome when you get to know your camera better and can do something more complex =) And wooooow 365 meeting in NY, that sounds totally amazing!
@mariyakey Oh my goodness, lady...I am so excited. I so want to capture a city and what better place and with what better people...Thanks for your great comments, Mariya!!
@psychographer Local ones are nice in that it's only for a couple hours, so maybe you can do one of those. Keeping up with school and day to day living is tough I bet. Amazing that you still have time for 365. Maybe a nice break! That's how it is for me and being a mama...it's my me time.

@squamloon I edited the color a tiny tad, but it was pretty vibrant to begin with. Thanks for showing me your shot and the flower title.
