Today, my mom and I took the kids to a local butterfly exhibit along with 800 million other people. It was fun to be in a room full of flutterbys, but very crowded and loud. Tough to get good photos while being jostled, too.
I think that this will be a summer tradition for us, but maybe next time we will go at a different time of day.
@masosy Yes, except the $1500 in surprise medical bills that showed up over the past two days...after just fixing my bank account! Oy!!! You are sweet, friend. Thank you!!
@masosy Just from a few visits. Clara had a big one to the allergist where she was tested (the awful back scratch test). That one cost us $1200!!! I had no idea it would all be not covered and that expensive! Our insurance isn't the best. It costs less, but not much is covered.:( The other stuff was from well visits and maybe one sick visit. We had a pretty sick winter for Clara especially.
I love how you have caught this guy looking right at you. Yes, you need to go on a school day, when the kids are in school and there are no field trips to the exhibit. Hint: I have found it works to go toward the end of the school day. The school kids have left on the buses, and the after school groups have not yet arrived.
It was great small, and then I opened it large and on black and was blown away!! This is awesome! How did I miss this the day it was posted and then getting 12 favs? Here's a other fav!
@gozoinklings Catherine, I noticed that many butterflies had damaged wings. Kids were trying to catch them, holding them, etc. They get battered:(. Even this one was an imperfect specimen. Thanks for your comments!
Oh, thanks so much for all of your kind comments and words, friends. I was so pleased that this shot made PP today. Hope that you had a wonderful weekend!
@adamj He really was. Just for me. He told me so:). It was a cool exhibit to attend with a camera! You missed my most popular (well second actually) selfie yet.
What an awesome shot, Amanda. Love the colors and detail. You and your camera are amazing. Yep, next time go another time but this worked out well. FAV
@amandal I would love to go to something like that and see how well my camera's do. I have never photographed a butterfly and would love to. They just never land in our yard or at the park.
@amandal There was a show locally but found out too late. I calendared it for next year and maybe one day we will get to Marine World and check out their butterfly exhibit. Will keep checking in the Sac area as one may pop up in time to plan for it. I also want to go to the Folsom Zoo and check it out.
@pasadenarose I've been known to exaggerate a tad:). It was very crowded. Thank you. I saw a photo the other day of Pasadena and the lovely city hall (is that right)? And I thought of you and all of your great shots of it.
It's funny how we carry bits of 365er's with us on our travels.
A couple of weeks ago, I was enjoying a lovely visit with some ducks and a goose by a pond. They came very close, preened and napped. Naturally I was thinking of Darlene and her beloved ducks. :-)
I'm trying so hard to get caught up on everybody's projects, but it's never gonna happen. Just doing my best for now.
@pasadenarose Thank you for catching up. I just comment when I can. Trying to still balance my life and keep my family happy. Not succeeding as often as I would like. Love how we show each other the world. Have a great day!!:)
@aleksandra Thanks so much for the sweet words and fav, Aleksandra.
@paulaw The blue was a really cool mural painted on the back wall. I loved the color it added. Thanks so much for the sweet words and fav, lady!!
@rennes It was such a fun thing to do. I'd love to try a macro lens there, but mine worked ok. Thanks, Lisa, for the sweet words and fav!
@365inthelifeofjcvogt Thanks so much for the great camera, words and fav, my cousin:).

@colie Aw, thanks sweet lady!!:)
But maybe they like the attention. This guy certainly looks like he's enjoying having his photo taken.
Awesome shot.
