The other day whilst on a run, I noticed that my heron friend was also enjoying the diamonds on the water. I set up this shot, by walking toward him with my camera ready and scaring him into flying over the diamonds for me. And then I had a little editing fun to make it look like a harvesty sunset, give it some Halloweeny colors. It was mid day. Gotta love diamonds, big birds and the ability to edit creatively.
Doing this, scaring a bird for a shot, reminds me of one of my favorite images last year from the beginning of the year. It was from a guy in Great Britain. I think that it had the London Eye (or some ferris wheel) in it and pigeons in flight. I think it was sepia. He had run though and scared them into the shot. It was from my early days before I understood what a fav was, and was mostly a voyeur and didn't comment much. I don't have the shot in my faves, but would love to. I don't know who the bloke was who took it. Can anyone help me out and point me to that shot?
Hey lady, if you're interested, even though the study has already started, there are a few small group spots available. Don't know how long they'll be there, but if you're interested, friend Lisa Kramp https://www.facebook.com/lisa.kramp.5?fref=tshttps://www.facebook.com/lisa.kramp.5?fref=ts and request to be added to an OBS Small Group. We're currently studying "A Confident Heart" by Renee Swope. We're on the 3rd chapter this week. If you do request, ask for Group 28! We had a girl unexpectedly have to drop out so we may get an additional member this go round.
@losthorizon Thanks so much, my friend. The button failed, though. That stinker button. Try again, maybe:). I appreciate you and am really glad to have you back around here again!
@malc Americans who have been around the 365 community for awhile do. We don't say whilst either. I love the expressions I pick up.:) He was a bloke, though. I loved Dick Van Dyke:).
Nice to have such wonderful comments and appreciation for this super composition. You might have organised and processed it but the original has to be perfect and it is for this shot!
@maggiemae I got one shot and had to be quick. I cropped out the shoreline and changed the composition of the bird a bit...it was really centered in the original. I also added the orange to make it sunsetty like. Thanks for your comments, Maggiemae!
Oh my, spectacular! When the stupid boater scared my heron last week, I had the totally wrong settings because I was shooting at f/22 for the landscape and just got crazy heron-blur instead.
What a fabulous shot, Amanda. Love the colors you used and the shot of this heron. What did you use to get the colors you got. Love it. FAV Do you know how to get rid of things, like trash cans in a photo?
34 favs and no PP..wow. Will be interested to see if it makes TT but with it being Wednesday to Wednesday your favs might get split in two. Lovely processing and the water looks wonderful.
@kcman5 Thanks so much for the sweet words and fav, Cathy!!
@wind_of_the_sothern_sea I got one shot...two actually, but one good one. Not much time to set up, focus and such. So glad it turned out so well. Thanks so much for the fav!
@amrita21 Hey, thanks so much for that, sweet lady. Can you recheck the fav button, though, it didn't take for some reason. I'm so behind, too. I get it. Happy weekend, my friend!!!
Bowled over by your fabulous responses and faves to this shot. I really loved this one, but I wasn't sure if others would. Thanks for telling me that I am on the right track!!
Thanks so much, guys, for your great comments and faves. I was bowled over by the wonderful responses to this shot. It was one that I really loved, but not sure if others would. Crazy how that works out!:)
@darsphotos Yes, Darlene. I use Gimp to edit out stuff like that. It is a free downloadable software. I tried to copy something around it and paste it over the area. It can be tough to get right. See if you can find a tutorial online. I haven't figured out how to do that in picmonkey. Thanks so much for your kind words and fav!!
Wow, you guys rock. Your comments and faves and kindness really blew me away with this. I loved the shot, but was uncertain with how it would be received. Thanks for loving it, too!! Never has a shot done so well for me right out of the starting blocks! Sheesh. Thank you!!!
@gozoinklings Thanks soooo much, lady. So pleased with how this one came out in the end. Man, it's amazing what editing can do...what a difference even a crop makes. Made one tweak at the end that I was so glad I figured out finally.
@gozoinklings Yes, maybe more part time, though. I thought that for this year, but just couldn't take a day off. I'm too perfectionist and I love it tooooo much! It's all an addiction to me.:)
@seanoneill Thanks sooo much, my friend. I was in love with this shot...especially after the edit. Appreciate you. Hey, do you know what shot I was talking about above in my description. I've looked and looked trying to find it. Someone in the UK from early last year.
@rennes Aw, thank you, friend. I can't believe that I missed all your TT images this week. I'm a wretched friend. Sorry. Fixed it with faves. I thought that your ICM shot would make it! I've never had a double TT. Hats off to you!
@amandal Thank you Amanda! Please don't stress about missing shots - I'm always behind with commenting - can't imagine how many wonderful photos I miss every day! : )) Happy Saturday!
I too smiled at your use of 'bloke' :-)
@wendyhgill YES!! Glad you noticed. Thanks, Wendy. Just being silly.
@sunshinephoto5 Thanks so much for the fav, my friend!!
