I have been inspired like crazy by the recent works of Jo and her amazing face series. I really would love to do one of my own, but I don't get out from the 'burbs much.
Well I captured this in a crowd during a show the other day. I did a few candids that day and found that 3 of the 4 were of bearded men. I can't stop shooting the beards.
I hope to become bolder in the future and maybe talk to people and ask them if I can take the shot so I don't have to do it on the sly. One of my candid shot victims caught me and was making a grimace. This guy was laughing because his wife was the victim, er, volunteer in the juggling show.
@jo13 You inspire me. I started shooting candids on vacation this week. I couldn't stop shooting bearded men:). Such cool texture to their face and character, I think.
I'm thinking about growing a beard for next year's local beard-growing contest. Seriously. Anyway this is a good profile. I think I would try to clone out the bright spot under his chin so the beard stands out more.
@rvwalker You should do it. Michael grew one in November and still has it. I'm rather liking it. Good call about the bright spot. I have much editing tricks to learn:).
Excellent work, well done you, you have caught his character perfectly. This is exactly how I started and slowly over time got bolder. Half the difficulty is finding people of interest, you have to look at a hundred faces before you might find one! ...... Keep on looking and good luck x
lovely candid Amanda... i actually found it easier than i had thought it would be to talk to people... my problem is that i can't take posed pictures worth a damn, certainly not if i only have 30 seconds to do them... good luck to you!
This is a wonderful photo, Amanda. I bet he or his family would love to have a copy of it. Too bad you did not speak but in time you will to strangers and you will find that they are happy to find what you are doing. FAV
