The Art Guard

Back to the art museum...

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and faves on my shot of Lucas in the windows yesterday.

When I was taking this shot, at first I was annoyed that the dude was bombing my photo, and then I realized he made the shot better. And he even sat still for the photo:).

I was busted by the art police at the museum while taking a photo of a painting that I didn't see had a notice on a sign saying no photos. I felt like a bit of a heel and an art theif, but the guard was very kind and said that it was hard to see the sign. He didn't even make me delete the photo.

We had such a great time at the museum and are very much enjoying spring break. Yesterday was ice cream sundaes for a fun snack. Tonight we are going roller skating. Hope you all are having a great week, too.

What a fantastic shot, looks great in mono and you're right the guy doesn't detract from the shot but adds something to it. Enjoy the rest of your Spring break.

Wow, this is very cool. You are lead right into the shot, stop briefly by the guard, then carry on to the end. lol fav.

You know what I love? When you sign onto this site, and the first photo that you see blows your mind. It's an unfiltered reaction. You have no expectations, just that you wanted to sign in, and BAM....the photo strikes you. How happy then, am I, that I saw this photo first. Brilliant Amanda. Incredible capture. Fav

Great composition.
March 27th, 2014
@losthorizon Wow, Beau, thank you for your amazingly kind comments. Love those bam awesome times when you look at a shot. How cool that one of mine could be that moment for someone! Thanks again hugely, friend!

@bristolrose So appreciate your sweet comments and fav, lady!! Thank you!

@oopsadaisy Awesome. Thanks so much!

@anazad511 Thanks, Ana:)!
March 27th, 2014
fantastic shot and your caption just cracked me up, you are so funny.
March 27th, 2014
Isn't it funny how they watch your every move like you are going to get one of those monster framed suckers off the wall and walk out with it. Really nice "never ending" shot.
March 27th, 2014
@amandal you don't need to thank me, you can use the time to visit mine :) I know you appreciate my visit and favs
March 27th, 2014
This is wonderful Amanda, great lines and reflections.
March 27th, 2014
Wonderful composition, lines and tones.
March 27th, 2014
I always wonder what the point of the 'no photos' signs are. What harm is there in it? Love the leading lines in this shot and the pale grey xx
March 27th, 2014
@psychographer I think it was copyright stuff. One of the ones that was no photos was the Andy Warhol. I so wanted a shot of that!
March 27th, 2014
@amandal Saw a no photos sign in a shop I went into the other day!! Don't they realise we're addicted ;o) xx
March 27th, 2014
Lovely capture
March 27th, 2014
Nice repeating pattern and great in mono - the guard adds to the shot
March 27th, 2014
Some photographers use flash on the artwork that can have a cumulative fading effect, and I suspect you are right about the copyright problem too. The guard adds so much to this image, and is actually the strong point that attracts my eye. Oh... I'll bet the guard would have made ME delete my photo!
March 27th, 2014
@rvwalker He was a young guard and I used my charm on him;-). thank you!
March 27th, 2014
Amanda, this is fantastic -- great architecture shot, but having the guard in it, like Ross @rvwalker said, warms the shot up for me. I love the repeating arches.
March 27th, 2014
I agree with @losthorizon this was on the top of my home page, first photo I saw when I signed in and I'm instantly thinking "wow, love, love that shot." Fav obviously
March 27th, 2014
Great composition
March 27th, 2014
Fabulous capture! Fav
March 27th, 2014
A superb composition. Fav
March 27th, 2014
Great shot. I think he adds to it!
March 27th, 2014
@seanoneill I thought of you when I saw this. It reminded me of a museum shot you had. The geometry of it and all. I did like the guard in there in the end...people just add something, I think:).
March 27th, 2014
Very cool! Love the framing!
March 27th, 2014
Fav. Great shot, Amanda. Love the pale greys, the guy and the light!
March 27th, 2014
It sounds like you're having so much fun! I rather like the personal element with the guard, too. Cool perspective and tones in this fab shot!
March 27th, 2014
Excellent - love all this lines and light!
March 27th, 2014
What a great perspective! The guard adds great scale to the photo!
March 27th, 2014
Great POV -- the guard looks very relaxed -- I don't think he would have cared what you photographed, including himself.
March 27th, 2014
Brilliant perspective, tones and composition. Fav
March 27th, 2014
wonderfully soft light - beauteous perspective -f av
March 27th, 2014
So terrific!!!! (for all the reasons everyone has already cited).
March 27th, 2014
wow, wonderful shot. the light is beautiful, the lines and composition are incredible. LOVE THIS!
March 27th, 2014
@cdonohoue I almost did, but their presence everywhere dissuaded me. Thanks so much, lady! When it warms up and starts to flower, wanna meet at Spring Grove? I want to meet the swan!
March 27th, 2014
@dandelionmama Thank you sooo much!!!

March 27th, 2014
love the leading lines
March 27th, 2014
Wonderful shot, love the lines, the B&W and the guard :)
March 27th, 2014
Everyone has said it all - so another fav from me : brilliant
March 27th, 2014
Love the reflections on the floor !!
March 27th, 2014
classic and slick,fantastic shot
March 27th, 2014
So beautiful! Can't believe you got a clear shot of this cool hallway! The b&w, guard and the bust off to the side all add to the charm! Fav!!!
March 27th, 2014
As I first came upon this shot in the feed, I thought you framed it perfectly and how perfect that the man was sitting there for you! Then I read your description. The photo would be good without him, but IMO, having him there is the cherry on the sundae (since that was your yummy treat).
March 27th, 2014
@smellychelli You know, my sundae was missing the cherry, so I needed to hear that. Thank you!!!

@wannabe Awesome, lady, thanks so much. I considered cropping the busts and framing up the doorway, but then thought the busts made it look more galleryish, more like it is in a museum. The crop made it lose something. So appreciate the fav and kind comments!
March 27th, 2014
This is a magnificent shot, love the simplicity, clean lines, tones and perspective. A definite fav
March 27th, 2014
Meg
great shot...uh the guard is a little relaxed there...hahahha...great museum with lots to do!!
March 27th, 2014
Lovely composition and framing
March 27th, 2014
this is great, the greys really set it off well. And the photobombing fella, well he just adds to it :)
March 27th, 2014
Wow, I really love the feeling of light and infinity here! Do love the inclusion of the guard and somehow he seems similar to the bust too.
March 27th, 2014
@archaeofrog Funny, and I was "bust"ed;-). thanks!
March 27th, 2014
Very cool, I am so wondering who he is
March 27th, 2014
Wonderful light, POV and composition. Yeah..the guy does add to the atmosphere.
March 28th, 2014
@rachelwithey So appreciate that, Rachel. I got on a good b&w streak. Must go to the art museum more often!

@sugarmuser I know. I was so pleased he was sitting still and didn't mess up the shot!

@pixiemac I agree. Thank you!!

@flyrobin @megmills Thanks, ladies!
March 28th, 2014
You shoot the guard?---cool-hA!!----awesome perspective, straight to my fav dropbox:)
March 28th, 2014
@joemuli Whoopsie. Push that star harder. Thanks, my friend. Yeah I just had to shoot him. He was in my shot.;-)
March 28th, 2014
love how you can see from door to door.
March 28th, 2014
Wonderfully composed image - draws you right in!
March 28th, 2014
Mac
Well done! I love finding the unusual in the usual.
March 28th, 2014
@riverlandphotos Me, too. Thanks so much, lady. Great to see you around today!

@darrenboyj @dmdfday Thanks so much, guys!!
March 28th, 2014
This is so cool! Love the light and the repeating shapes. The bored security guy does add to the shot. FAV
March 28th, 2014
fav
March 28th, 2014
this is wonderfully composed... and indeed, your photobomber does make it better!
March 28th, 2014
@jsw0109 Thanks, man. You rock!

@pflaume He reminds me of my husband's uncle. Thanks, Lisa. You are so kind.

@northy Thanks, Northy!!
March 29th, 2014
Fabulous shot, love the repeating shapes.
March 29th, 2014
Rather good! You're not a true 365er until you get busted taking a shot. The line through the doorways to the guard is fantastic. There is a view like this at the National Gallery in London, and at the end is one of my favourite paintings, a painting of a horse called Whistlejacket by Stubbs.
March 31st, 2014
@seanoneill This shot reminded me of one of yours. You inspired it:). Thanks, my friend!
March 31st, 2014
I love this. Have another fav to add to your collection.
April 3rd, 2014
@dh Thanks, lady. I had a great day photographically at the art museum.
