This was one of the sculptures that I was most drawn to at the sculpture gardens, a 2 sided one of Romeo and Juliet, a pair or star cross'd, ill fated lovers.
What struck me was their stretching, grasping hands just out reach from one another. How sad is their story! I tried to capture it and process it dramatically.
In middle school, I was in the play, Romeo and Juliette. I was Lady Capulet, Juliet's mother. I seem to remember doing my lines in a southern accent to stand out and make my role more interesting. Always the crazy comic relief.
It's time to break down the walls and reach through.
@cdonohoue It was sooo good, Cathy. A gorgeous place! Hey, Friday's weather is looking rainy. Should we zoo it tomorrow instead? Thanks so much for the fav. I loved this one:).
@jamibann Thanks very much, Issi. Appreciate your lovely comments!
Wonderful sculpture and you have captured both the love and desperation. Thank you very much for your comment on I think - it has made my evening! Fav.
@judithg Yes, the black bit...the heart and the hands are part of the sculpture. I edited in the red and the bricks. It was nuts. I had the audience laughing.
What a powerful image! It's striking in the simplicity of the hands reaching out yet never meeting. We just saw R & J performed last weekend by the Joffrey -- it is always such a sad story and each time I see it I hope for a different ending!
Very Cool shot! And thanks for the fav on today's 1962 Corvette image but the fav did not show up, wondering if you can go back and hit the fav button again?
It is time to break down so many walls that this could stand for.
Wonderful image. I've never been to the sculpture garden
@jamibann Thanks very much, Issi. Appreciate your lovely comments!
