I tried to do a standard selfie with the tripod and it turned out to be a horrid, unflattering angle. I looked like a dog. It was like the Seinfeld episode with the chick who was only cute at the diner and nowhere else. Take me to the diner, only to the diner! Sheesh. Wish all angles were good, but what are you gonna do?
This was taken in a mirror that is propped up on a bookcase next to my bed. It still needs to be hung, but so it goes with moving and things getting done. Slow process to settle. It did work well for a bed selfie, though.
Back in high school, I had a girl in my class, Kristin, who was an on again off again friend. We were mostly off for some reason, high school girls are often like that. Once she told me I looked like I was a head with legs. She meant it as an insult, that I had a freakish shaped body and it made me feel bad about myself, for she was older and pretty and popular. Just a mean girl, really. Yes, I am leggy. But that’s not such a bad thing now is it? Wonder what Kristin is up to today? I'll bet she is still mean and probably unhappy.
Happy weekend! Hope it's a fun one for you all! And golly, you all have been so kind to me with your comments and faves this week. Thank you!!!
@amandal Just checked it out. I like this one a bit better. Much more playful and you see more of the subject (you). The angle on the alternate shot shows too much of the bed. Nice shots.
Awesome shot. Like how you set it up. In high school, the guy who was voted one of the most popular, 5 years later became a heroine addict, delivering pizzas. Sad really. But that's life I guess. It's not about the gifts you get in life, but how you use them. And you my friend, are awesome.
I love them both and fav'd them both. How creative of you to think of something like this. Amazing!! I have a huge antique mirror sitting in the garage because we have no room to hang it inside. Now you got me thinking.....LOL! Kristin sounds like a typical poophead. Private joke and what I used to call people who annoyed me when I was in college. My late roomie and best friend had an ongoing poophead list tacked up on the bulletin board in our room. I still have it. I save everything.
You look like an angel photographing mere mortals. Great idea and it turned out awesome! Bye the way, you have amazing calves, and I mean that in the most professional, sweetest way possible.
You all are very kind. Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my wildly edited bed selfie for the theme:). Fun to do, albeit a bit awkward to get myself all in there and hold still, while snapping:). Happy weekend!
@judithg It was said with a sneer. I'd never noticed my disproportion before and it made me feel like a freak. A head with a legs looks weird. Thanks, lady!
Oh, I like the way you've done this. My Kristin was named Rita. I was tall and skinny, all legs and arms and she was short and cute and perfect. She once told me not to strangle myself on the telephone lines, as if I was so tall I'd walk into them. I saw her years later -- she was still short but very fat and I was still tall and skinny. So. Fav for your picture and accompanying story. We never totally recover from high school.
Fabulous capture and I always wished to be tall and skinny. Wishing doesn't make it happen though. I guess we're a product of our genes (and a dash of take-away food 8-) Fav
Very cool! Struck me as something I might see on a billboard! I had someone tell me once I looked like Kermit the Frog riding a bicycle. Those things always stick with you I guess.
Ah, those high refined high school insults. My own favorite had to do with my "goose neck" ;)
This is beautiful. Legs are my favorite part of the body to draw, as it turns out. Yours are not just pretty but also visually interesting, excellent artist material. Hope that didn't come across as weird/creepy as I fear. In any case, this is so nicely done. I love that gray-blue.
@agima Another wildly edited selfie, but did I do better with it this time around or are you more vanilla processing, real looking shots? It wasn't as blown out this time, more contrasty and such.
very cool. nicely put together.
i've been well. have not abandoned the project yet. Just taking an unplanned break. Picked up the camera again today after a few weeks. might put something up today, just for you :-)
Fabulous selfie, edit and concept. Having beautiful long legs is a privilege, wish mine were longer so I wouldn't have to shorten all my trousers :-). Love the alternate shot too. Fav
how did this get past me? really great legs, kiddo. when i grow up i'm going to have long pretty legs like yours. yeah, dream on, me! :-) i like this shot better than the other.
I came across this looking at the tags for photographer. What a wonderful photo! Don't you love how we all manage to get in our couch-for-therapy moments on this site...and we walk away with hugs from everyone and a "you go girl" cheer from the crowd! I just adore this little tight-knit community!
