On our trip, we popped over to Maine so that we could see it. I think we saw and drove through 10 or 11 states on our trip. The upper New England States (VT, ME and NH) were the most scenic and my favorite. The second leg of the trip was in the Boston area and so very hot. Plus we were tenting it by then, the campground (bathrooms) was less clean and then I got a stomach flu while there. Sick and in a hot tent was seriously not fun.
Maine was a super stop in that we found a great thrift store where I got 3 more dresses. That's 5 thrift sundresses this summer for only $21. Most expensive ones were $5. Then we ate clam chowda. It was actually called chowda on the menu as that is how they pronounce chowder in New England. After that, we had a police escort (seriously...it must have been a small town) to this location...a fort and view of the ocean and this great lighthouse. My mom had been looking at a map confused and an officer stopped and asked if everything was ok, then offered to show us where the beach was by leading the way. Maybe it was too confusing to explain. Anywhoo, cool to have him take us there.
I took many, many photos of the lighthouse, trying for an interesting pov. I think I finally found one taking it though the fence. Loved how it all lined up just so.
After being lazy and taking a couple weeks off of Mad Hatters, I am giving Jeff a break and a hand (hee hee) today. Check it out: @madhatters
Fav. Beautiful shot, Amanda and love the creative presentation. Being sick in a tent does not sound good though.....it's bad enough being sick in a luxury hotel room! Your trip sounded so interesting....glad you got to see all you did. I wish I could find some great deals on sun dresses, I love them!
Oh, I miss ME already. So beautiful there. I don't think we saw this lighthouse. There are so many to see, I wish we had more time in NH so I could see them all.
You are right, the diamonds of the fence frame each piece of the photo perfectly! Awesome! I like the fence too - it gives the photo even more interest. I love New England as well! So gorgeous and full of such wonderful American history!
@jaboney Sometimes it's tough to get the focus right. This was a particularly cool fence with the diamond shapes. So glad it worked out. Looking forward to your shot sometime:).
This is just fabulous - love how everything is in its own little diamond shaped frame - even the sailboat! And I enjoyed reading about the trip - and the shopping - I'm going to have to hit my thrift shops!
Such a pretty shot. Until I read your description I thought this was through a leadlight window. Have to laugh about the chowda, we do that to most words that end in 'er'.
How did I miss your trip on here. I know I was liking photos on FB. You had a wonderful trip and I love this photo. I always wonder how to shoot with fencing in a photo and this works so well. I love it. So nicely done, Amanda.
