Yesterday he turned 43 and we celebrated. The kids were in VBS (vacation Bible school) in the morning so we got to have a morning date. He took the morning off from work. We went out for breakfast to a diner where the food was meh, but it was good to get out. And then we hit the trails and hiked for a couple hours in the woods. We even had a couple mini portrait sessions...I was the photographer here and he was my photographer. Fun to do selfies in the woods with my husband:). But not super fun to use the old point and shoot again. I missed the control, hated the lag, difficulty focusing and lesser quality. Oh and the zoom isn't as good as my lens either, but oh well, didn't want to lug a big camera around and really just wanted to be with him and not in photo mode.
And last night for dinner, we had homemade tacos and his favorite rum cake. Finished the evening up watching a movie.
And we still have a date night coming up to go out officially for his birthday. Mine was weird this year as we were traveling, but gosh, birthdays are fun.
And oh man, I love these chocolatey eyes. They make me melt. We go together, right...see me one photo back. Both of us have the eyes going on:).
love your title for this and nice picture of your hubby; sounds like a wonderful date. I looked back one picture expecting to see a similar picture of you and laughed out loud. You got me there.
good heavens, amanda! where did you find this thing??? aherm! i better behave or i get chatised. tee-hee! he kinda looks like an ex from long time ago, i hope he's not the son! great shot, kiddo!
@summerfield You know...he probably is...was he an American? We've been together almost 20 years now...since I was a tiny babe. Or just a kid, but a legal one.
Cracking portrait shot, Amanda. Loved the narrative, especially the comparison to the eyes...hilarious. Just keep posting these great shots, always look forward to them.
@amandal - yes, he was american, and gorgeous, and sexy, and strong, and...sorry, you were saying? :-) he was 22 years older than me so he could've had a grandson michael's age.
Just last yesterday, yours is the first photo I see this morning. And, yay, what a great one! Tell him the pose is fabulous, not cheesy (always love your tags, too)
I once had eyes like that! (They've lost their brightness and have a cholesterol induced ring around them but my wife still swoons over them!) But I never had such a class beard! Nor was I so handsome! Fabulous portrait! Clearly you are made for each other! Fav!
You captured this shot of your hubby just beautifully. Oh so special, and he really does have beautiful eyes. Sounds like you had so much fun on your morning dated. Belated Happy Birthday wishes go out to him.
Love your title and this shot of your handsome husband. I would have never thought to not have his entire head in this shot but it works well since your focus is on his eyes. Really great detail with this camera too. So glad you two had such a nice time for his birthday. FAV
@bill_fe Aw, that is sweet, but sorry that I couldn't fool ya:).
@april16 Thanks, lady. I was taking some of the same old things of him and they were so boring...I was glad I had him do this as I love seeing the eyes. Eyes are so key in portraits!
