I just love frogs for some reason. I grew up in a very froggy place where I would see them all the time. Here, I hardly see my little jumping friends.
But this week, I hit a frog goldmine on our hike in the woods. Mike went down to this little pool and it was like a plague of frogs down there, big ones...the size of his hand. They were croaking in this weird squeak and leaping into the water. I was watching from above.
We passed a little pond on our way back to the car and there were more frogs. Most were jumping and hiding, but this one posed for me for a bit. Wished that I had had my camera and better lens, but at least I had something.
I asked Mike what he thought of this possible prince and he said, "Eh, he's looking muddy." I think he's just jealous.
Thanks all for your great comments and faves. Really appreciate you all.
@bobfoto One of the woods frogs. I see them so rarely in Ohio. I thought you'd appreciate the tomato tag. You really should push the button again and I'm not talking fav here:). Don't be a rock head.
What a great capture! I love how his green blends in perfectly with the environment. Looking forward to catching up with your album. There are always great surprises to be found!
@bobfoto Only sometimes. I used to hate tomatoes. they were on my wouldn't eat ever list. I like them now, and they are fun to have on hikes for throwing at stuff, but...
@bill_fe@bobfoto has a thing for frogs and tomatoes. He had a shot years back that was quite amazing. Frogmato, I think it was called. I'm not nearly so cool as that, but had I had a tomato along, well, maybe, just maybe I'd have been cool, too. Must remember to hike with tomatoes!!!
What a great shot, Amanda. It is the person taking the shot, not always the camera in hand. You did awesome. I love the clarity and detail you captured. FAV
@bobfoto I really should come up with my own thing, like Squirrelwi or Chipmunkpple or better yet deerumpkin. None of this copying stuff. But, yeah, good advice on squishy fruits in the pocket. I didn't have pockets or shoes, though.
I am a fellow Frogophile! And when I met Lisa Bell and Paula GOff we went to a pond...and the frogs did that squirty squeak and jump when LIsa walked around the pond. For me, they just jumped in...and Paula seemed to be the Frog "croaker" (whisperer) as they did not fear her. hha
@eyesmile Oh thank you, Gena. Aren't they the best?
@darsphotos Thanks so much, my friend!! Great words.
@espyetta Yeah, Mike must have brought out the same sound in them...nothing I had ever heard before, but oh so cool. I still want more frog photos. One in a pond looking up at me, one with them not all covered in mud. A selfie with one on my head;-).
@amandal Like THIS?! haha http://365project.org/espyetta/album-4/2014-07-01
Yeah, I am with you! I see brown toads in our lake yard alot, but rarely a FROG. I have one more frog pic taken this past fall near school parking lot. It was a wet fall..and these CUTE frogs were hiding out on these big leafed weeds near a retention pond. I had never seen one before, but maybe I had not been looking. look at how cute it is!!!!! http://365project.org/espyetta/album-2/2013-08-10
@bobfoto Ha...I thought what the hell is he talking about, but that was all mine. I'll work on making it happen. So wish I had cameras handy when I see deer. One peeked in our window in the winter...tracks in the snow right up to the window. Saw 3 fawns and a mama tonight. But to get one on a pumpkin...
@amandal - oh wow... I once holidayed in a town in Victoria where there were feral deer... they would hop over fences and eat petunias and not give stuff.
@amandal - we do have Deer farms here (Aus) and I guess when they escape they become Feral. In some parts of the world, they are indigenous and therefore are non-feral.
@bobfoto Not to here. We don't have venison as a standard meat unless you hunt it or get it from a hunter. There are probably places I could go to get it like this crazy world market we have. they have every thing there, like sheeps heads, etc.
