This was taken at the Ben & Jerry's factory in Vermont. Right by the "Flavor Graveyard," which was actually a place with tombstones and descriptions of some of their retired flavors, like peanut butter and jelly flavor....ewwww!
We went there on my birthday a few weeks back and they gave me free admission, a free cone and a pin advertising that it was my birthday. I felt special. I LOVED my Phish Food ice cream (chocolate with ribbons of marshmellow and caramel and dark chocolate fish...holy cow, it's good!). My birthday was so full of good things to eat. We also went to a maple farm and tasted their cheese and syrup and went out for an amazing dinner.
Anywho, I love color, love adirondack chairs and gazebos, oh and woods, too, so this was a perfect find for me. Thinking back, I wished that I had taken a rest here for a moment. I need to rest more.
@annied It was really quite hilarious...all these funny poems on the graves. Some of the flavors sounded horrid...like sweet potato pie and peanuts and popcorn. Yuck!
Oh a Ben & Jerry's factory sounds like a dangerous place! What a great spot and how respectful to honor the retired flavors, they deserve only the best.
@ladygator One flavor, it was White Russian, was honored by a woman bringing roses and laying it on the grave, like she was in mourning. Ben & Jerry's decided to bring it back from the dead as it was obviously so loved. Cool, huh?
Fav. Loved your narrative and this is such a pretty idyllic scene. What a fun day that must have been. Wish they would have something cool and different like this around here. Vermont is beautiful and I love anything maple. Which reminds me I need to find some maple walnut ice cream somewhere.
@ladygator It was only $4 for adults to tour and free for the kids. And they gave you a huge free sample of yummy ice cream and had a shop right outside which did amazing business. Such a great place.
@davie I had another amazing one on the trip called Muddy Bean Boots (I think)...such a weird name, but oh my, it rocked. Chocolate, Vanilla, Caramel and brownie bits all mixed up and yummified. I was in ice cream heaven. Maybe Phish Food is better? Can you find that at your store? It's in pints. Pints of gold!
@amandal Muddy Bean Boots...sounds like my kinda footwear!! I've just found out that we can get Phish Food ice ream here, so I'll be trying it real soon yuuuummmmmm!!
@joemuli Michael had their 7 layer cookie icecream and it was a disappointment...or not close to Phish Food. What kind do you like? Know the name? It was great, thanks!!
Beautiful spot. We made a concerted effort to miss all things Ben & Jerry's when we were in New England. Their ice cream is good, but I don't like their anti-military themes.
Such a peaceful shot.
@jocasta Truly!! Thank you!!!
@eyesmile Gosh, me, too...thanks so much!
