During my park/fall outing with Meg this week, we went to the top of this pavilion that gave us a good sweeping view of the park. I spied this couple out for a walk together. It was a gray and cold day and there weren't many out. I liked how they enhanced the scene, though. People, I tell you, people can really make the photo.
A bit later, Meg and I headed to the loo, and this couple had the same idea and were en route there, too. I started shooting the roof of the building as there was a pretty bunch of leaves on top. Yes, I shoot bathroom buildings...anyone relate?
The man, though, stopped and said "I'm not in your shot, am I?"
"No, you are fine." I said.
Then he proceeded to dance around in front of me like a big goof ball.
"Photobomber!" I yelled jokingly. We laughed.
I love refreshing funny people like that. People who play and are friendly. The world would be better if we could all be like that to some degree.
Anyway, looking at this shot got me thinking about seasons, and seasons of life and having someone by my side to see my through them. I'm grateful for that, enjoying this season of my life and this glorious season of the year.
Thanks so much for your awesome responses to my falling leaves photo yesterday. Love it when I set a goal for myself and accomplish it! That one took many tries and patience.
I certainly agree with your view, Amanda; nicely placed figures in a landscape bring a picture to life, especially distant back views like this. Not at all keen on seeing rows of people staring at the camera though.
FAV!
@bill_fe Hyperventilating:). It was so drab and white out sky. It needed summin summin. I tried to edit in clouds, but then that wasn't how it looked, so I went for this. Punk. I felt like an annoying gnat over at mad hatters in the tripod discussion. Sorry bout that.
Beautiful colours and composition and the processing really enhances the image too. I always enjoy reading your write-ups you have a real skill for writing (as well as photography of course :))
Wonderful perspective, and the colors are so great, looks like a painting. I liked your writings too, and I agree, people can make a photo. People,....and well dolls too ;-)
@amandal - so did you check your camera's retouch menu if it has the overlay function? when there was a camera settings challenge two years ago after i got my nikon, that's how i learned about the ghostly effect. that was how i started shooting raw because the camera would only do the overlay with raw shots. let me know.
Lovely thoughts and yes, it is nice to have a companion on the journey through the seasons- even when they jump in front of the camera and wave their hands around! Keeps life interesting that way.
Everyone tells me I'm the goof ball and I don't see it that way. I just like talking to people and I do, anyone, I don't care. My husband says "I don't know how you have lived this long without having talked to the wrong person at one point or time and gotten in trouble for it?" I just laugh and say "who says I haven't?" Having someone to travel your journeys with you is the most awesome thing, but traveling alone isn't so bad either. I did for a few years. Well, there were several somebodies that traveled along, but I think life is what you make it. alone or with someone. I LOVE this shot and the couple do make the photo!!! Other than the benches, they are the only couple out there!! Brings your eyes right to them.
I will have to put a couple photos that I took a couple years ago of some fun people that I talked to!!
Huge FAV and I really like the way you think!!
I don't use mine much any more, but a graduated ND filter helps with drab skies. It darkens the sky, but keeps the rest normally exposed. I can do that with my Lightroom software, but the real thing is still a bit better (probably due to my [lack of] editing skills. I'm limited to what lenses I can use with most of my filters, 'cuz I bought them when I only had one lens, with a 52mm filter size. Now I buy 77mm filters, and use step up rings to facilitate using them on smaller lenses.
@summerfield I did once and wasn't super into it. We don't watch much TV. Maybe one show a season. An MMA reality show and Walking Dead. And just got into Breaking Bad.
@bill_fe@amandal - i have no tv in my apartment. when my last one broke from not being used, i didn't bother. haven't had tv for 10 years now. but when i do watch tv, it has to be educational or something entertaining. entertaining as in it makes me laugh. i like to watch big bang because it sometimes reminds me of my college days, which was more fun than high school. sometimes i use partner's tv when i'm in the mood to sing and i do karaoke, but haven't done that either for years now. goodnight, billy. goodnight, mandy. see you tomorrow.
FAV!
Ah, what a fine painterly effect on this my friend.

Just subtly indicating I'm back on my meds. Sheesh! ;-)
@amandal
But, then you'll need to master the new one! And, it'll be fun learning.
