I'll Fly Away by alophoto

I'll Fly Away

Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away.
To that home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away.
To that land where joy will never end,
I'll fly away.
I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.
Oh I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away in the morning
When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,
I'll fly away.

I've been surrounded by stories of death lately. Three friends of mine have recently and tragically lost family members in the past week. And just yesterday, I witnessed a terrible car accident (one in which the car flipped and rolled down the road right next to me) It was like a movie stunt. I pulled over and called 911 and watched as people ran and pulled the woman out of the vehicle. It was crazy and left me very shaken (and her I am sure, too). She did get out and seemed ok, but seriously freaked out. She absolutely could have died...and the cause, I suspect, was texting and driving as she seemed to lose control of the vehicle for no reason.

Life is fleeting and fragile and we are all going to die sometime. We have that in common. And gosh, it really could happen anytime as I am seeing with the recent deaths and near deaths that have touched my life.

So after we die, what next? Is that it? I don't believe so. I believe in accordance with the Bible that that there is an afterlife and it's longer, much longer than our little stint here on earth. And I believe that we can be in an amazingly wonderful place or a hideous, awful place for all of eternity based on our decisions here on earth. It's not about being good enough, because no one is good enough. Who can be perfect? But it's about accepting the free gift of cleanliness and salvation from Jesus Christ. I have and expect to join him in Heaven someday. I'll fly away there when I die and leave this earth. Who will be joining me? I hear heaven is pretty amazingly gorgeous. Think we'll have cameras there?
So much of where we end up must depend on how we love while we're here on earth. I'm sorry you've had too much tragedy in your life as of late. I've had times like that, too. In one year I lost five different people, some who were close and some who weren't, but all who had meaning in my life. It's funny how things happen like that, all in a clump, at some points in our life. Horrible and seemingly endless when you're going through it, but always bringing a message of how precious life is, while we're here. I love your photo. How absolutely beautiful. Fav.

Oh, I am sure there will be cameras there, because who would be recording the glory of afterlife if not for us photographers!! ;-))) I can only imagine how upsetting it must have been to see someone come that close to death....it really does put your life in perspective! Love this shot!

Beautiful shot and I love the words that you chose to accompany it. Yes, life is fleeting. Carpe el diem!

I love that song... so sorry that you are having to walk on the darker side of the street right now. Seeing a "close call" auto accident really shoves the randomness of life right under your nose. This is a lovely shot... so symbolic and hopeful. Very thought-provoking.
