I have never been able to get a shot of the moon in all 4 years of my project. Tried numerous times and failed miserably.
Last night it was pretty and fullish and I decided to try try try again. First looked up online how to shoot the moon handheld and got some setting pointers.
Finally was able to get a clear moon shot with some detail. Not too shabby for an adequate camera, lens and novice at shooting the moon.
Pleased to learn new things and to have reached for/aimed for the moon and succeeded!
@kategoring It was actually a quick snap, exposure. Manual mode, 100 ISO, Aperture 11 and then trying different times starting at 1/100. Don't remember which worked best...maybe 1/50. Fiddled and took about 20 shots and this came out best.
That is a beautiful moon... thank you so much for sharing the article with tips. I have never gotten a good moon picture and hope, one day, to remedy this...
You did a great job in this! I never could get a great shot because I can't zoom enough. But the moon has been spectacular and I'm glad you took advantage
That is an excellent moon shot!!! Thanks for the link. I can't wait until the skies clear up here (no complaining allowed in drought-stricken areas) to try the suggested settings.

The article I read also said to definitely spot meter on the moon itself. Allows you to increase that shutter speed quite a bit.
Favulous of course.
