Had a the day off today, so headed to the coast to enjoy the fine weather we're having. First up was Leigh-on-Sea which is still a working fishing village - as you can tell the second you get out of the car and breath in...
It's speciality is cockles so I had half a pint's worth (caught and cooked this morning), dash of vinegar and sprinkle of pepper whilst sitting by the water enjoying the view..
Ended up in Chalkwell, walked to Southend and back then stopped off at Coalhouse Fort in East Tilbury on the way home. Took this snap there, I quite like silhouette photos but rarely seem to take any.
Nose is a bit red after being out all day... Suncream?!?!? Forgot...Doh!
Are cockles the same as scallops? If so, we're sharing an identical day! Ken was at the docks at 8 this morning to purchase the scallops as they arrived off the boat...ummmm...fresh! Nothing like a fishing-village kind of day...sounds wonderful & glad you enjoyed it too!
Thanks Guys... Louise, cockles are tiny clams, probably a similar family to scallops, but much smaller - here's a link to a few more snaps from today where there's a couple of pics of what they look like (they taste better than they look by the way).. http://andycphotos.shutterfly.com/284
Trevor - glad to be able to bring back some memories... no beer tho, not a real ale fan... (plus was driving)
Sunscreen?!! You're English--you can't wear sunscreen. I agree the "Team USA" is really annoying--my husband and I like to say "Team" in front of every game now--tonight we watched Team Spain against Team Chile. Embrace the term, it's a good laugh. Should be a fun weekend of games. I admire you for posting regularly during the Cup. Especially with shots as nice as this one!
