Will I ever learn.!! Was stopped and questioned again by the Gestapo at Canary Wharf as I rested my camera on a wall and clicked off a few snaps of commuters making their way home this evening.
I'd only taken 3 shots and hadn't even found a setting which caught the amount of blur I wanted when I was pounced on.
The first guy was rude and demanded to see my photos - I was immediately stroppy back which got his back up and he threatened to call the police... The second guy was reasonable and told me Canary Wharf is now on a high alert since we've decided to start interferring in, and bomb, another Country...! (guess Lybia must have oil...!!!!!)
Oh yeah... I can just picture old Col Gaddafi marching on the Wharf..!!
I wanted to agrue more but also wanted to get home to watch something on the box starting at 7pm so gave in and showed my snaps, explaining what I was trying to capture... He said fine and to carry on... His stroppy mate didn't seem too happy..lol...
Would have like to have a slightly longer exposure here and caught more blur compared to the lady standing still...
I think for the 3rd degree you got trying to capture this shot- it is pretty darn fantastic! I like the motion blur in the background, yes it is subtle, but still effective. Next time don't forget to tell the police that you are taking photos of the structure of the Wharf to send to Mr. Gaddafi, and Bin Laden LOL! Geessshhh
ROFL!...its a great shot! Actually thats why I always wish to try my hand at street photography but always give up trying...don't fancy having to explain myself to people! Well done...for the photo and the courage hehehe
Cheers Guys @azza_l I mentioned the you tube clip of the guy with the megaphone... the second guard laughed and said it was well funny (then added he shouldn't be saying that..lol).. @indiannie_jones I know... what am I like... @jpgiorgio Know what you mean, it does put me off, am only really comfortable in central London where I can pretend to be a tourist.. @mrgtrueman WHAT!!! It's now illegal to photograph the moon!!!
@andycoleborn not the moon but they thought I was possibly planning a terrot attack ona pylon that I was near. All turned out fine when I showed him my photos and wrote down how to do it as he got a camera for christmas!
more war-more high alert - more gestapo security guards...I remember the heady days of the 90's, nothing to worry about but SCUD missiles and drunk drivers, or the idyllic 80's, just the Russians and poxy nukes, -the easy life. what was it George Orwell said about constant war keeping us constantly scared and malliable? Nice pic though, I couldn't do this on my point and shoot, i can do long exposures but I bet you tightened up your f.stop????
@mrgtrueman heard on the radio that over 10000 photographers have been stopped under terrorism rules, 0 arrested.... @rich57 The Universe.. missed it on Sunday... @phil_howcroft ha ha yeah, I did think it would have been funny if she was talking to him
ROFL!!!! Sorry but what is this country coming to. I only tried my first proper street photog shot last saturday, I wonder what would happen if I did it now.I want to go out and see, lol.
This is a great shot. Even though the blur is subtle it still makes a great photo.
FIGHT THE POWER!! Love to hear about your Canary Wharf run ins....also love your little comment about the oil so true...oh yea like your picture too :)
Were they impressed with your awesome photographic skills at least? I haven't been stopped since my sunset incident and it's interesting to hear that moon shots are now in question also. Are we invading the moon? I need to pay more attention to the news.
@shantwin ha ha we're not... you americans did try in 1969 (allegedly) lol... only kidding :-)... but your right, it's just down right stupid sometimes...
Streetshooting is all I do 99% of time...I would be in such trouble in your neck of the woods... Great capture in spite of them! Keep going...love the stories!
