Tonight at choir practice the church was still set up from Sunday night's service where names of the 500 fallen in Macclesfield had been laid out for remembrance. When James was just 8, he and I did some work on the internet finding out about one name from our memorial so he could understand why we parade. We found 2nd Lt Horace Arthur Seel, known as Arthur, had been head boy at James' school and had been captain of both rugby and cricket. Newly arrived at Cambridge, he signed up as an officer and was checking his men on his first night in the trenches of Gallipoli when he fell victim to a German shell. Our family think of him every year and I even have a school photo of him in my craft room- a young man with life infront of him. It is lovely to see his name written again for the people of Macclesfield to remember. Rest on, Arthur.
R I P Arthur and the countless others who lost their young lives in wars. This year has been particularly poignant over the Remembrance services. We will remember them.
