Candles in the forest? This Stiff clubmoss (Lycopodium annotinum) has yellow spores, a kind of yellow powder which is very flammable. My brothers used to make small bombs of it. Earlier it was a traditional pasttime among boys. Maybe it still is that in the country.
One man I know found an interesting object of metal during the WW II when he was around 10 years old. He started to pick the thing with a hair pin and out came powder which he thought looked familiar. And then the grenade exploded. He lost his eyes and some fingers. The accident did not prevent him from studying and making a long career. He is now a senior citizen.
