Muskegon Channel going out to frozen Lake Michigan

The dark spots you see in the open water are waterfowl taking refuge in the Channel, mostly White-Winged Scoter, Long-tailed Ducks and Greater Scaups.
the crimson sunset on the horizon is a perfect compliment to the lighthouse. Beautiful….

Love the way the fence leads your eye to the lighthouse.
Surprised to see so little open water on Lake Michigan!
Does it normally freeze over?
Great shot.
