Red-shouldered Hawk Nest by annepann

Red-shouldered Hawk Nest

A fellow birder led me to this nest he had found in a Sycamore tree in a wooded area. There is only one nestling in it and we have only seen one adult at a time. Red-shouldered Hawks are not very common around here. We mostly see Red-tailed and Cooper's Hawks. I'm zoomed and cropped to the max here on this "for-the-record" shot, but frankly I'd be surprised if I ever get this good of a look at a RSHA nest again.
So interesting.

Wonderful shot. A few years ago all we saw was Red-Tails but recently have been seeing more Red-Shoulder and a lot of Coopers.
